Secret Wood Pendant WithPersonalized Name Inside With Epoxy Resin
Secret Wood Pendant With Personalized Name Inside With Epoxy Resin
Things Required:
- Epoxy Resin
- Wood
- OHP sheet
- Water paper
- Pendant Holder and Chain
To make a pendant like this one with a personalized name inside all you got to do is to follow the steps.
1. First of all, you need wood. Break it. You can use a hammer or any other method to get the crack. I use a hammer.
2. Then you need an OHP sheet and print the desired name or an image on it. Use a laser printer for this.
3. Cut a piece of the OHP sheet. Mark the size of it. Fold it so that a container can be made. Tape it properly so that it does not leak.
4. Now cut the print out and place it between the wood.
5. Apply some glue at the back of the wood and place it in the container.
6. Mix a batch of Resin. I am using a 2:1 epoxy resin for this.
7. Mix it thoroughly. I am using blue ink to give it a little bluish color.
7. Pour it on the wood in the container. Go slow during the process. It will help to reduce bubbles.
.
8. Leave it to dry for a day.
9. Cut a rough shape out. I am making a shape of a water droplet.
10. Now comes sanding this way. A proper shape is given to the piece. I use s water paper for the purpose. Using water reduces the chance of damaging the piece and on the other hand, no dust is generated.
11. Mix another batch of resin. Pour it on the piece.
12.Buy a pendant holder and a piece of chain.
13. Drill a small hole on the edge of the pendant.
14. Place the holder and tighten it. Put the chain and it is done for use.
Well done Puskar ๐

DeleteBeautiful piece! I have a few questions. What is OHP? What is water paper? What kind of glue did you use? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa, it is not OHP ๐it's Resin Epoxy. This turns out so beautiful beyond your imagination.
DeleteJust 'google' Resin n wood rings & pendants and you will find beautiful tutorials and extremely easy to do but a lot of time goes on sanding with different grit sanding papers and polishing to get the desired results. In the end it's all worth it๐. Hope this was helpful .
OHP stands for Over Head Projector Sheet.
DeleteWater paper are sand papers that do not get damaged when water is used. Water is used to keep the resin cool because once resin gets heated up it becomes soft and may lose its shape. In this I used Fevicol Adhesive but u can use any Adhesive.
Thank you for visiting!!
I don't usually sand much up to 1000 grit and final layer of resin gives the crystal clear look and it makes the work easier. And for the transparent sheet it is visible at certain angles so a rough idea can be made where to cut.
DeleteMellisa, the OHP sheet is 3mm plastic sheet to make the mold to be placed around for epoxy . My apologies for having missed that ๐
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for answering my questions! I love this piece. You did a beautiful job. Are you able to tell me what grit water sand papers to buy? And for the name on the clear paper, can you see the outline where you cut it inside of the resin or does it disappear! Thank you so much again!
